Block & Leviton represents direct purchasers in this nationwide class action alleging that broiler chicken producers engaged in a conspiracy to suppress the supply of chicken meat in the U.S. to increase prices. The suit alleges that the defendants, which include Perdue, Tyson, Pilgrim's Pride, among others, coordinated their output and limited production to increase prices. The class action lawsuit was followed by a DOJ investigation that led to indictments of top-level executives at several of the broiler producer defendants.  Settlements with five defendants totaling $170 million have been obtained to date on behalf of the direct purchaser proposed class.  There are fourteen Defendants remaining; discovery and class certification are ongoing.
